I am one of those people who finds it hard to say no to fun.
Auds, want to go to Thailand? Yes.
Auds, want to go to Fiji? Yes.
Auds, want to go to Cairns? Yes.
Auds, want to go skiing? Yes.
Auds, want to go sailing? Yes.
Whatever I have planned, I try to rearrange so I can go an do whatever is more fun. It’s a bit of a dilemma when two of these clash, but I figure it out.
There are two main reasons I can’t say no:
1. Fun is what life is all about.
2. I just can’t stand the thought of missing out!!!
FOMO – Fear of missing out.
My friends have always known I suffer from this. Now you know too.
It makes life a little bit more difficult for Ryan. While it’s great that we both love doing all the same things, if he gets to go do something that I can’t do, I get a little sad.
I suffered a bit from FOMO on Sunday. Ryan got to go sailing on this:
Luckily I’d been given a weeks notice that this was going to happen. That have me time to work through my FOMO and make attempts at finding something equally as fun to do.
Well, my first downfall is that land isn’t nearly as fun as water. Then, after some googling, I also realised that nothing in Brisbane interested me for the day.
I guess when you live somewhere, the sights aren’t very exciting. You see them regularly.
In an attempt to get motivated, I read various blog posts about Brisbane. The things tourists get excited about are all within 10 minutes walk of where I work. It’s exciting stuff for those who don’t live here.
So I branched out. Looked beyond Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are close enough.
I did find something to do. Something new to see. I was, however, restricted by the weather. It needed to be fairly sunny and not too damp.
It was overcast and a bit damp. So I didn’t go.
FOMO – no is just not an option.
Auds – having fun sailing since I was a little girl:
Sailing is definitely on the mind these days. We are both eagerly waiting our turn to go cruising. In the meantime, I’ll just keep reading the blogs of those doing it, and dream…
